How Cloud Computing Will Affect Staffing And Recruitment

Integrating Cloud computing with staffing and recruitment industry would bring numerous new opportunities to the human resources applications as well as to the IT industry.

Cloud technology enables companies to use the latest version of the software that gets automatically updated to meet user’s needs.

Also, all the users of the cloud-based software are always on the same version of the release.

It negates the issue of incompatibility and having to update it manually to match other user’s version.

Every company wants their staffing or recruitment application to be scalable and cost-effective.

Ideal human resources software should be easy to use which could be accessible from anywhere.

This is where cloud-based HR software comes in, which makes recruitment easier.

Cloud-based application or SaaS (Software as a Service) is a software that can be accessed remotely from anywhere using a web browser and doesn’t necessarily require any installation or managing software on a local system.

Cloud-based systems facilitate the companies to avail applications on a subscription basis, according to the companies’ requirements. IT enables businesses to empower the application based on the degree of their usage.

This enables the companies to save investment as well as the use of the traditional software model.

It doesn’t have to be purchased or avail license of the software and might contain more than what is required. It saves time and money in the form of training and implementation, which doesn’t have to take place.

The various pricing model can help business’ requirements by allowing them to manage their user’s accounts on demand and cloud-based staffing software means, a company uses what they need when they need it.

New features are instantly available, when the application is upgraded, instead of having to wait to download and install the updates to avail necessary features

The SaaS-based application doesn’t require any implementation cost. It is because; there are no upfront capital expenditures or any sorts of IT resources. Setup and training are much faster and simple.

Companies benefit from ‘rent vs. buy’ model of SaaS software and don’t have to deal with application licenses. Companies save money by not having to pay servers, additional features, and software or in house IT staff.

Software setup is faster and cost-effective than the traditional models. Cloud-based staffing and recruiting applications could be the solution to business’ staffing and recruiting needs.

IBM AppScan is Secure For IPhone Developers Against Hackers

IBM has recently launched a new application to help developers secure their code and data in iOS applications. AppScan 8.7 searches through iOS application code and alerts developers when it finds any flaws. This software also analyses the apps that developers might want to use on Apple devices to check for vulnerabilities. Meanwhile it alerts the IT security personnel’s about the potential threats.

IBM said that over 45.6 billion siOS app were downloaded in 2012, which is why securing Smartphone and other iOS devices should be a top priority for organizations. IBM has developed AppScan Source application after analyzing over 40,000 mobile APIs by using Apple’s Software Development Kit (SDK). These API profiles were added to the IBM AppScan Source Security Knowledge-base and tied to the analysis engine.

IBM AppScan Source 8.7 for iOS is expected to hit the market on 25th of March. IBM claims that it will facilitate the users the ability to improve security quality without sacrificing the time to market of mobile application projects. It will also allow the FIs and others, to protect each mobile application release in the face of constant updates. The new security protocol is part of IBM’s over-arching Mobile First initiative.

In addition, IBM AppScan 8.7 can reduce the cost of developing secure applications by finding early security vulnerabilities in the development cycle. It provides developers with a view where flaws may surface in their applications, allowing potential security drawbacks to be handled at an early stage and avoiding further pitfalls in development process.

New Features in IBM AppScan 8.7 include:

Multiple Language Support:

The software also features language support for Objective-C, JavaScript, Java which includes the ability to call APIs and data flow analysis that would generate trace information. This new feature enables organizations to build secure enterprise mobile apps, regardless of technology, employees and partners.

US Government Regulation Compliance:

Provides compliance with two crucial standards – Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Publication 140-2 and Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).

This project showcases IBM’s execution of its [Mobile First] strategy to help clients incorporate security into their infrastructure and solutions from the design, development and testing phases rather than leaving security to become an afterthought,” said Caleb Barlow, director of application, data and mobile security, IBM.

Technology to run Android on Windows without emulation

android31There are numerous operating systems available in the market such as windows, MacOSX, Linux etc. But there is no way to run Android OS natively on a computer. In order to carve this problem, advancements have been made to run Android on a windows system without a simulator. It will enable the Android operating system to run on ‘Windows’ kernel instead of its usual ‘Linux’ kernel. This system will detach the need of an emulation layer, therefore making the android OS performance ultra-fast.

Some of the first hand users said that this wasn’t the first application to run Android on windows but its ability to negate the use of emulation layer, is what makes it welcoming.

The system is currently believed to be working with Android 4.0 and could be installed on Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista. But in order to set-up the application, it would require a little android application development familiarity, more than the basic knowledge of using an android Smartphone. Once installed, it can be used like a native android OS on a computer. It will be enabled to run all kinds of android applications including the 3D games. This technology will bring new possibilities to run simulated environment on a different OS, without any hindrances.

At Andolasoft we develop the most intriguing android mobile applications for individuals and from start-ups to established companies. We’ve an expertise team of android application developers developing the most innovative apps for all android devices.

How to do tagging in Rails with gem ‘Acts_as_taggable_on’

ror41Tagging is a way to give a keyword and search by that particular keyword. In Rails “acts-as-taggable-on” is one of the popular gem for tagging. With ‘acts_as_taggable_on’, you can tag a single model on several contexts, such as skills, interests, and awards

Below is an example to describe how to implement it in a Rails application:

    Step#1

  • Add the gem to your Gemfile:
  • gem ‘acts-as-taggable-on'
  • Then run the bundle
  • bundle install

    Step#2

  • Run the generator command
  • rails g acts_as_taggable_on:migration
  • Run the migration file
  • rake db:migrate

    This migration will create two tables in the database: tags and taggings.
    Step#3
    Now you have to modify your model where you want to implement tagging.
    For example, we like to implement the tagging on Post model.

  • Add the following codes to the “Post” model to have acts_as_taggable and also add a “tag_list” field to the attr_accessible list.
  • attr_accessible :content, :name, :tag_list
    acts_as_taggable

    Step#4

  • Add a new field to your post form.
  • <%= f.label :tag_list, "Tags (separated by commas)" %>
    <%= f.text_field :tag_list %>

    Step#5

  • Add the following codes, if you want to show the tags for the tagged posts in the listing page:
  • <% @posts.each do |post| %>
    <h2><%= link_to post.name, post %></h2>
    <%= simple_format post.content %>
    <p>
    Tags: <%= raw post.tag_list.map { |t| link_to t, tag_path(t) }.join(', ') %>
    </p>
    <% end %>

    Step#6

  • Modify your route file to get the tags
  • get 'tags/:tag', to: 'posts#index', as: :tag

    Step#7

  • Modify your controller:
  • class PostsController < ApplicationController
    def index
    if params[:tag]
    @posts = Post.tagged_with(params[:tag])
    else
    @posts = Post.all
    end
    end
    end

Voila! You have done it.
